Pacing Guides (Located on the Math Expressions tab of the wiki)
Think Central
  • Explore ThinkCentral ThinkCentral
      • Have teachers set up classes
        • Click on the Classes & Students tab
        • Click Add class and complete the sections Define the Class and Define the Library and assign Activity Book and Mega Math
        • Click Save at the bottom of the page
        • Click on the Assign Students button at the bottom right of the screen
        • Click on your students and click the add button
        • Click on Done when you have added all your students
      • Have teachers practice assigning tasks to students
        • Click on the Assignments tab at the top of the screen
        • Complete information in the Student Information section
        • Under Select a Resource Type click Searchable Resource
        • Complete the information on Resources page (be sure to click the subject, grade, and select a resource- Mega Math or Student Activity Book)
        • Complete information in the Assignment Information
        • Move students over for that assignment
        • Adjust your dates and save

Assessments (formative and summative)
The ongoing assessment ideas can be used as a formative assessment. There is a quiz after several lessons that can be used as a formative assessment. The unit test serve as the summative assessment..

Agenda Items 9-19-13: PEP's and BARK Time
PEP's:

  • PEP's must be completed on all students who are at-risk in reading and math in your classroom. This does include EC and ESL. We will focus on reading for now, but by the end of first quarter you will need to identify those at-risk students in Math before the first parent conference. Use your current data from mclass to help you write your PEP's.

BARK Time:
  • BARK time has been designated as our intervention and enrichment time. This time is used to give our students specific interventions in Reading using the Small Group Adviser from mclass. Click here!

Review intensive (red) and strategic (yellow) students in our school. We will move these students when MOY testing is completed.
Progress Monitoring begins tomorrow! What does your schedule look like? Do you have a calendar developed or a system to track progress monitoring?

Agenda Items 10-10-13: District Focus

District Data:

  • Share District mClass Data with the staff

Math Expressions:

  • Math Expressions Unit Test Data- All unit test data must be turned in upon completion of the Unit test. All data will be recorded on a Google Doc
  • Students must score an 80% in order to be proficient
  • Each teacher will include the following information on the Google Doc:
    • the percentage correct for each child by test
    • average score for the class
  • Teachers will need to reteach the day after a unit test and give a retest. The retest scores must also be recorded on the Google Doc.
Review K-2 Report Cards:
  • E- Exceeds grade level expectations
  • M- Meets grade level expectations
  • NY- Does not yet meet grade level expectations

3-5 Grades:

  • Grades should be submitted in Gradebook
  • If you have questions or need help. please let me know!

Quarterly Tests:

  • Quarterly Tests will be November 4-8 due to PD 360 videotaping!
Informational Writing:
  • Window begins Oct.14 - Nov.1
  • K-2 Prompts will be in your boxes Friday.
  • Informational writing is due Nov. 15
  • 3-5 Prompts- Each teacher will get a copy to project or use the documents below.

Progress Monitoring Reminder
  • Please make sure you are following the district progress monitoring calendar for your students. (Every 10 days for red, 20 days for yellow, and once in between benchmarks for your green students.
  • View your progress monitoring results in mclass


Review and Discuss K-2 Report Card
  • Report Cards will need to be completed for your parent conferences.
  • Make sure you review PEP's with parents during the conference time.
  • Please save your completed report cards on your thumb drive.


Home School Connect Letters
  • Home School Connect Letters will be given out with the report card for all K-3 students.
  • This letters have been printed and will be given to you next week in PLCs.
Gradebook
  • All 3-5 teachers must be entering grades in Gradebook. You should be entering grades each week (at least one in math and one in reading).
  • Dawn and I will be in touch with the dates for grades to be due.
BARK Time
  • Please remember to spend BARK time doing mclass interventions. This is part of our district plan. All students must be provided this intervention and enrichment time.
Math Expressions
  • All missing materials from Math Expressions have been promised to arrive to us by Oct. 21st! Hooray! :)
  • Please make sure you are adding your unit test scores in the Google Doc. Math Unit Test Scores
  • Discuss how your grade level is giving the retest
  • Remember to give the average of the two scores as the grade.
  • Assign Mega Math for the lessons you are currently teaching
  • Review Unit Resources in Think Central
  • Discuss any issues or concerns
November 4th
  • Discuss Wear Red Day Nov. 4th
Reminders:
  • Turn in your Core assessments to me by Monday afternoon. I will be taking those to Cynde Gilmore on Tuesday at NCMS.
  • Science Kit pick up is October 30th! Please have them ready and outside your door before you leave on the 29th!

Spelling Bee
  • All classroom spelling bee's must be completed next week (Nov. 18-22). All names of the winners must be turned in by 2:00 on November 22nd in order to get the students their study guides for the school bee!

Math Expressions

__Math Unit Tests__
Share with PLC’s this week.
  • K-2 is at 80% proficiency and higher on unit tests.
  • 3-5 is below 80% proficiency on unit tests.
Questions to ask during grade levels in PLCs
  • K-2 How much guidance (input) are you giving when administering the test?
  • Are you using manipulatives during the test?
  • Why do you think the performance composites are so different k-2 vs. 3-5?
  • Remind K-2 teachers to read the test to the students verbatim. We are trying to determine if the students are compotent with the skills taught.
  • Send home the family letters for each unit - in English and Spanish
  • Pacing Guides - use the pacing guides to determine where you need to be in math.
Math Expressions Unit tests:
* All teachers will use Form A of the unit test for assessment 1.
* The Multiple Choice test (Form B) can be used for EC/ ESL level 1 students
* For retesting, use the test in the Student activity book or modify Form A (change numbers)
